Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I want to take the GRE in a month. I have a really good undergrad GPA but SUCK at test taking. The program I am applying to requires the GRE, but there is not an entrance score requirement. I’m thinking about just going and taking it on the computer and not messing with studying. (I have been out of school for 5 yrs. and have job experience.) To get accepted, they just want you to have a good undergrad GPA, 3 letters of reference, work experience, and TAKEN the GRE…what would you do?

I wouldn’t and didn’t study but still got a 5 on the written portion, 590 Verbal and 610 Analytical. Was good enough to get me into my program.

I took the GRE without studying at all, and I did pretty well, but then again, I didn’t study because I know I usually do well at test taking. If you’re bad at taking tests, I’d absolutely recommend studying.

Also, while it might be true that there’s no minimum score requirement to enter this program, I’m sure they’ll still look at the score and consider it; otherwise they wouldn’t ask you to have taken it. It might not be a huge factor in whether they accept you or not, but every point should help.

  • English teacher says:

did not study verbal. score = about 750
studied math. score = 500 or less
teach writing (students always get good scores.) writing score = terrible

ironic isn’t it. I have no idea what happened. Maybe my brain was mush after the math part.

I recommend studying a little, but don’t stress too much.

It seems odd that they wouldn’t want a minimum entrance score, but I bet they will look at the score. I took the GRE without studying at all and did pretty well on verbal and analytical, but the math section is tough if you don’t review your fundamentals. You can re-take the GRE so maybe take it once and if the score is really low, review and go again. Work experience is great, but how many math formulas do you really remember? ;)

I’ve taken the GRE and studied my butt off while I was an undergraduate and it was still difficult. I would recommend that you study and the get the book which gives you a CD with sample questions. The CD really helped a lot. I don’t think not studying would be the best route as the questions attempt to sum up your entire undergrad experience and pull some very freshmen questions that I completely forgot about. Also studying vocabulary words is a big thing. All the best to you!
