Whats an Ideal time to Start GRE preparations?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
Hey guys, Im currently doing my undergraduate course from The Indian Institute of Technology. Id like some help regarding when i should start preparations for say, GRE, GMAT, CAT etc. People say i should start preparing well in advance. And moreover, what other prerequisites would i need, that i will have to obtain in the upcoming years at IIT, to gain admission into a reputed university abroad. Or are the test scores sufficient for entrance? Pl guys, these questions have been bugging me for some time now and id love your help.
I recommend putting in no less than 300 hours over a period of 3 to 4 months. If you have to take some time off of work then do it. It is the most important test you’ll ever take. Be systematic in your studies by the way. Download PowerPrep from the ETS website. Get a copy of the Big Book from amazon.com. Practice tests are key. Above all, find your weaknesses and attack them mercilessly.
I gave myself about 2 months to study for the GRE. I would say that at minimum, especially if you’re still in school and fairly busy w/ life. I know people who prepared for 6-8 months though. Most of the math is review, but you’ll have to memorize a lot of new vocab words.
