Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I’ve looked online & found NOTHING! & How much does it cost to take the GRE?

& what’s your experience with taking the GRE? I know it’s not that easy, but is it overwhelmingly hard? Did you pass off 1st try or had to repeat? Did you study or prep for it? Did you have a tutor or not? Did you study on your own or go to a class?

What should I do? I can’t afford to pay for a class or tutoring. I’m poor. But I heard that the 1st time you take the GRE, you can get a waiver or a voucher. If I’m disabled with limited income, can I get a voucher?

**Sorry for so many questions, but I’m trying to get a general idea of people’s experiences so I can know what to expect.

I prepared for the GRE on my own. It took about a month and a half of making flash cards and the like and 2 weeks of full-time studying and practice testing for me to get in the 99th percentile on verbal. I won’t speak for the math portion because my skills were so poor that I would not have done well regardless.

I don’t know anyone who took the prep course, but I had every practice book and computer program in creation. Most people take the computer-based exam, so learning to operate the test and taking practice exams on a computer is crucial. There are free programs you can download from ETS and some prep books come with software. I have posted a link to the ETS software below. It’s the most important one to have because it works the same way as the CBT. I used Princeton Review books, ETS guides, and REA books and software. The software was also especially important in learning how to read on the computer. If you have to take the exam on a computer, do as much reading online as you can leading up to the exam.

The one thing I wish I did was prepare for the AWA part of the exam. I still did pretty well, but I expect I could have nailed it with a little more preparation.

The most convenient way to register is online at http://www.gre.org. You may also register by phone (1-800-GRE-CALL) or by mail. In order to register by mail, you will need to complete Authorization Voucher Request Form that can be downloaded from http://www.gre.org.

The cost to take the exam is currently $130. ETS takes most major credit cards, personal checks, and money orders.
