what is the fastest way to learn vocabulary for gre?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
I need to take the exam in two months but I am really weak in vocabulary. couple of my friends say that qliklearn is the best and fastest way to learn new vocabulary. did anyone try that service?
Why is English given such an important place in competitive exams?
Many colleges and universities conduct entrance exams before admitting students into their institution. I have wondered why a good understanding of the English language is so crucial in these exams.
Take for example the Gradate Recognition Examination (GRE), an exam an aspirant has to clear, before he can start studying in the US.
The exam focuses so much on English comprehension and vocabulary. (Of course, it does include tests of math and reasoning abilities too) But English occupies such a central role.
Also, I notice that the words used to test vocabulary are not so common-place, if not altogether obsolete. Why is it important for me to know words like ‘recant’, ‘upbraid’ and ‘ameliorate’ which I have never till now and probably never will.* A thought comes to mind: How many of these words figure in President Obama’s day-to-day conversations or speeches?
* – abominate, inveterate, orotund, scurrilous, fulmination, distend… the list goes on.
Surely, pulling out a list of vague words from the dictionary, cannot be a test of the applicant’s overall competence. This is especially true in this age of globalisation where the trend is towards simplifying the language more so that people can communicate more easily.
Is it merely to filter the huge number of applications so that only a few manage to qualfy? What other purpose does it solve?

non-native english speaker, engineer major going for an MBA should take GRE vs GMAT?
I am considering obtaining an MBA at an IB league school. But I am wondering which test should I take.. can anyone help me make the decision?
-I am about to complete a Mechanical engineer major in the US and I feel comfortable with math
-I have not taken a probability and statistic course…but I am considering this option as an Senior elective
-I am a non-native english speaker.. I am 22 and I learned English when I was 12. I speak spanish at home and english at school and work. I am not the best in vocabulary and I’ve read that GRE focuses on this area a lot…
What can you recommend me?
How hard is the GRE Exam?
I plan to take it in August 2009. Everyone is telling me to begin studying by February at the latest. First of all, is this true? I am Canadian so I never had to take the SAT’s or any kind of test so I’m really not good at them. And also, my vocabulary sucks and I don’t even have my time tables memorized. So what do you suggest I do in order to get a GREAT score and get into the top schools?
Can you suggest a good vocab book/guide?
I’m not looking for the dictionary here people. I’d like to build my vocabulary but I need a good list to start with. I went to high school and college (but I hardly learned any new words in college). Are there any workbooks you have used in/after college or any guides that have a good list (the a GRE book)?
It’d be best if there are exercises to do or self testing things.
Word-A-Day is ok, but from what I can gage by getting the emails I either know them, or would never use them.
How long should I prepare for the GRE exam, if i just finished college at Irvine. I have taken calculus before

How long will it take to fully prepare for the GRE Exam?
Keep in mind that I don’t know any of the Math and really bad at vocabulary.
GRE Study guides…do I need the recent publishing?
I have two GRE study guides that were handed down by friends along with the vocabulary booklet. Both of the study guides are the 2007 edition. Would these suffice or should I buy the newer editions?
Does any body know a good GRE prep book?
I am looking for a very strong GRE book that has lots of previous GRE tests questions and a good source to improve my vocabulary.
What is the best way to study for the GRE?
I have an entire month to study with nothing to distract me. I have the Barron book but I´m so overwhelmed by the vocabulary and everything. What should I focus on more and in what order?
