Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I want to pursue my master’s degree in counseling and applied psychology. Problem is I was a sociology and french (double) major in college. I have already spoken to a professor at the university where I will be applying. He gave me the guidelines of the prerequisites for that area of study.

I have already signed up for undergrad courses to make sure I meet the requirements and I am currently studying for the GRE’s. I want to know how I can make my application stand out.

What else can I do to improve my application? Is the master’s program similar to the undergrad insuch that university committees expect to see lots of extra activities listed on the application?

What do committees look for when considering candidates for master’s degree programs especially in psychology? I would appreciate all answers but especially those from psychology professors and psychology grad students.

Thanks!
I am currently in a position where I own my own home, work full time, and have 2 kids. I serve on several committees at work (I work in a public school). I have always gotten good grades and have always proven to be responsible. I am getting this degree so that I can pursue the career that I want.

PostHeaderIcon I went to a crappy school, completed, now I want to play with the big boys?

I went to Devry which by the sounds of my peers from other colleges, wasn’t so bad, but left me with to many questions to walk away from my education. I want to go to a really good school to further my education and sense I have my B.S. I would expect to work towards a M.S. degree. However, I am about to take my first grad course, without taking the GRE, school doesn’t require it. It’s a super hard school, top in the North Central US or something. I want to get some other opinions. If I don’t go for my masters, I could go for my FE license, or just continue working. I could also take some undergrad courses at night or weekends to help strenghten my skills. Anything is a possiblity.

The main dilima I have, besides to lazy to use spell checker on Yahoo Answers, is that I am not very confident in my ability to understand and interpret the the knowledge I will be subjected too. Perhaps because its such a big step, and its completely volunteer, unlike undergradate rigid daily schedule.?

PostHeaderIcon What should I do that there's no guarantee that I can get accepted in Graduate School?

I have to take certain extra undergrad courses to raise my GPA & take the GRE with no minimum score. Even if I make straight A’s & have a high GRE score, there’s still not a guarantee that I can be accepted. This makes me feel like I’m wasting my time. Should I still try to pursue this goal or just simply work & try to get off of SSI & Social Security? What’s there in life if I can’t get accepted into grad school? No jobs want to hire me, so that’s why I’m trying to get back into school.

PostHeaderIcon Taking the GRE while completing undergrad?

I’m a junior majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I want to take the GRE this year, but I don’t know when i’ll have time to study hard for it. I’m taking 18 hrs this semester and I plan on taking 6 hrs in the summer, 18 hrs in the fall. For those of you that have taken the GRE while you were completing your undergrad, how did you study for the exam while studying for your undergrad courses?

PostHeaderIcon Any tips for preparing for Bio and General GRE?

I am about two weeks away from taking the Biology Subject Test GRE and four weeks away from taking the General GRE. Does anyone who has taken these tests before have any study suggestions? I already have the study materials from Kaplan and have the Princeton Review Cracking the GRE guides on the way. Would it be a wise idea to go back through my notes and texts from my undergrad courses and re-read these? Any and all tips would be GREATLY appreciated!
