Do high GRE scores have an influence on admission to Graduate Schools in Europe?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
I’m from Turkey and have been studying for GRE since i want to study in USA. But i will also consider applying European universities. Supposedly i have very good GRE scores, does it increase my chance of being admitted to a European university? If not, are there any similar(GRE-like) exams valid for Europe?
I bought Barron’s preparation book and i try to learn 100-150 words a day for the verbal part. I haven’t started to study for analytical writing section yet, but i will check out the tips for rephrasing and synthesizing in Toefl, and have a look at sample essays. Also, I have been reading English and American newspapers everyday on the Internet everyday. Finally,I don’t study for quantitative part because i’m mathematics major.

Just heard that some universities didn’t need any exam scores at all. I’d like to pursue my Master’s in Engineering. Can someone help me out?

I have GPA around 6. Suggest some universities outside India where i can get admission for masters?
I’m an Indian doing B.E. (Computer Science and Engineering) in India. At the end of my course, I expect my GPA will be between 5 to 6.5, but I have many certificates (see below)
I haven’t yet given my GRE/TOEFL/IELTS, but I hope it won’t be a big hassle for me.
Can some1 plz list the universties in US/UK in which I have chances of getting admission for Masters?
Is it possible in Auckland University (NZ)? If so what about the living cost when compared to US/UK?

ABOUT THE EDUCATION PATTERN HERE (YOU MAY SKIP READING)
To be frank, only 10% (at most) of the professors/lecturers here know what they’re teaching. Others just blabber something in class and go. They do something in the name of teaching, just to get their salary which is between 20000 to 40000 INR.
Examples:
1) My mam who takes "computer networks" says "this computer will hav a port number right?"
Sad that she doesn’t even know that a computer is identifed by something called IP address.
2) There is another fellow who takes "System Software". He is a big a**. He doesn’t even know basic swap program in C. But he has done M.E.!
The correction pattern here is the worst you can see in the world. 42 pages of answer sheet corrected in 1 and half minutes. They don’t read whats written in the answer sheet. If we write something in a different way (but is correct), they don’t even bother to see if its correct or not. They just want us to write whatever is given in the book. I am not used to this in my school (which was far better). Moreover because if incidents like this, I lost interest in academics and this further made me take things easily. I dont have any satisfaction that i learnt something from college.
This extends to most of the colleges here except IIT, NIT, BITS, SSN, Sastra University etc.

LIST OF CERTIFICATES
During my 11th, i did project on "cartography and cryptography". third place in state level and got consolation prize in national level.
Then I did a small presentation at IIT-M in the same topic as I was asked to do.
.
During my second semester, i was a finalist in a software cracking contest conducted by a Madras Inst. of Tech.
I (along with my school teacher) did an online quiz software using php/js/mysql and we hosted it at IIT madras which was used by around 2000 teachers . Well i know it isn’t a big thing but I hav a appreciation letter from Education officer, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, which comes under Ministry of Human Resource Development (India).
I recently won 2nd prize by participating in a Line following Robot contest.
I was a finalist in a Hacking and three other events conducted by SSN College of Engineering.
I’m got a inplant training offer from CEERI. My friend’s dad is working as a scientist there (:P). And for most of the work he does with students, he encourages students to present an IEEE paper based on it. The good thing is that most of such papers get selected for presentatio at IEEE conferences. I hope I’ll be one among those lucky guys to present and IEEE paper.
Apart from all these, I have many participation certificates.

What are the eligibility criteria for Technical University of Munich?
I have enrolled in the undergraduate Chemical Engineering course in a reputed college in India. I wish to do my masters from Technical University of Munich. I don’t know German, but there are still four years ahead of me before I apply.
So, is it compulsory to know German and is there a qualifying examination to prove the language proficiency? Apart from GRE, do I have to pass IELTS or TOEFL? If yes, then which is better?

graduate university help!!!!?
hi all i’m an international student from india. my gre was 1300 (800 + 500) and toefl was 107. i had applied to 4 universities for MS in computer science- U PENN, JHU, NYU and U PITT.
i had pretty strong SOP with 4 fairly strong LOR’s from 3 professors and a company i had my training in. the problem with my profile was my acads. i only had a gpa of around 3.2/4. (i say around coz in my university we follow the percentage system in every course)
so the problem is that now i have received a reject from U PENN and the rest universities are saying that they’ll take around 2 weeks for the decision. but now my idiotic decision of applying to 4 universities is biting my a$$. so is there any other university which has admission open even now???
(i’m applying to north eastern univ tomorrow morning)… plz plz let me know any university or guidance. i understand there is no spoon feeding here but i have been so tense for the past few days that i cant see any hope….

I want to study in Canada. What is the minimum academic requirement to apply to a decent university?
I have done my Bachelor of Engineering in Computers from Mumbai University with an aggregate of 53 . I am looking to apply for an MS course in Aug 2010 in Computer Science. I really need to know if I will be able to get through to a nice university. I plan to give my GRE and TOEFL/ IELTS in Nov and that won’t be a problem at all. It’s just that I think my academics do not reflect my true potential and I’m just worried I will miss out on a top – notch university.
I’d also appreciate it if anybody can give me an idea about the job prospects in Canada after I complete my Masters.

I’m looking for pursuing my ms/mba in canada/uk.it is ok for me with either ms/mba but the thing is i want to know whether which country is better for which of these courses respectively and abt the job oppurtunities i.e, which country has got many job oppurtunities either in ms / mba. I belong to a middle class family and would go on a loan and should be in a position to repay it, so frankly speaking i’m looking for a place where i can do my post graduation which has ample amount of job oppurtunities.
Coming to my profile i’ve done my btech in Information Technology and my gre-1060,toefl-84,acads- btech-59.23,12th-72,10th-83 and i have heard that there is alot of competition in uk than in canada for jobs is that true,so finally people i request you to elaborate ur answer by answering as of which country should i opt and if so which course and which country has got many oppurtunities for that course.plz answer as soon as possible which would help me to take a decision fast and even the avg fees for both courses in both countries if possible.thank you awaiting for reply plz
A question regarding G.R.E. entrance exam for admission to U.S. colleges?
I have a few doubts regarding admissions to the U.S. universities through G.R.E. for foreign students-
1) Does one necessarily have to give TOEFL alongside GRE, if he/she belongs to a nation where English is not a first language?
2) What are the scholarships provided according to the GRE scores(any rough idea)? Do they differ for different universities?
3) Which are the top 5 U.S. colleges having M.S. course in Electronics Technology and/or Communication Technology?
4) Are there some qualifying criteria(marks/grades/GPA of previous course) to be satisfied to be able to appear for the test?
Please answer my above queries.
I shall be really grateful to all those who answer.
THANKYOU ALL IN ADVANCE!

about the possibility to be admitted to a graduate school in the US?
Hey guys,I’m a sophomore in a top 100 university in China. The condition is a little weird to me now,I am the so-called top best 5 percent .Let me tell you why,I was admitted to a kind of class that offers special courses of two academies at the same time(there were about 6,000 students in one grade of my college, over 1,600 students who come from two of the best academies take part in the entrance exam and only 80 were allowed to enter the class and during the first two years of my college, some of the 80 has been "pushed out" cause’ they haven’t met the standard) And when we take exams,we have our particular papers that is different from others,I mean even more difficulty than the original courses,so we learn the courses of two academies and take the more difficult exam, then the question comes out,how about my GPA?I wanna go to the US to have the graduate course after I graduate from my college in China,I do not think TOEFL or GRE a problem to me,so GPA is the only problem. What could I do?I am not doing so great if you look at my GPA,and you know why now.But what gonna I do?The admission requirement of many colleges which are the top 100 in America usually says"GPA 3.60 or higher".What should I do?Please help me,Thanks a lot.

Which are the German Universities that offer PG ENGLISH courses related to Automotive Engineering?
I have completed my BE in Mechanical Engineering from Mumbai, India. I am done with TOEFL and GRE and have got decent scores in all 3 above. I am planning to do Post Graduation Course in Automotive Engineering (or any course related to Automotive like Combustion Engines, Vehicle Dynamics, etc.). I am trying for Winter Intake. I found out that there are very few courses that are offered in English. Kindly list them. I’ll see if I missed any course.
Also, if anybody can signify what is a TU, UN and an FH. Which is better with a job perspective? I personally find FH better as it imparts practical knowledge. However, my friends believe otherwise. According to them, TU is better then UN is better than FH. In that order. So I am pretty confused.
