How hard is the General GRE exam?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
Okay, I am a senior right now and I am planning on going on to graduate school next fall. I would like to achieve a very good score on the general GRE (I don’t have a specific subject test to take because I am a history major). I just want to know how hard you found it in your personal experience.
p.s. please don’t relate it to the SATs because I have never taken that test, or the ACT.

I am currently a 4th year Biology major at Youngstown State University. My GPA is approximately 3.72. I haven’t taken the GRE exam yet. I have about 50 volunteer hours between different locations. What else would I need to get into graduate school (Including score on GRE)? Thanks!
How is the new GRE exam?
I will be taking the new gre and just wanted to hear how it was? Also if you could tell me what score would I need to get on the new gre for it to equal to 800. Also any tips would be helpful thank you.
when I say 800 i mean a total score. I know each section is worth 800..
Any advice or tips on how to prepare for the GREs?
So I’m taking the GRE exam this year. I’ve already been practicing with books (the Kaplan books seems to be more helpful than the Princeton Review in my opinion). I wanted to know if anyone out there who has already taken the exams and got a good score had any tips on how to be well prepared. Also, is the exam anything like the problems they show you in the books?? I want to make sure so I’m not wasting my time.
I’d love any kind of advice. Thank you!
Retake GRE or not?
Hi I’m an immigrant that came to US five years ago. I did horribly on the gre exam (close to 1000). I know that it is not a competitive score for applying biology grad program. The most embarrassing is that i did study for the gre exam. I am having a 3.78 GPA and i have four year research lab experience since i started working in a lab when i was a freshmen (so i think i may have a bit more experience than other candidates). I wonder the grad school will take my application for consideration at all? Or i should just retake the gre exam?
Thankyou so much and sorry for posting a long question!!
Did anyone else score a 990 on Kaplan GRE practice?
After my friend went to a Kaplan GRE practice session, I decided I ought to check my score. I went to a separate center and took the same exam. I scored a 990 — the same score as my friend. I then learned that another of his friends scored a 990. I’m suspicious.
Has anyone else taken the Kaplan Practice and what are your scores?
Thanks!
How are my GRE scores?
Hello. I just took the GRE Revised General Test yesterday, and they don’t have automatic estimated scores for the new scoring system, and it told me that in terms of the old scoring system my Verbal Reasoning score was in the 540-640 range, and my Quantitative Reasoning score was in the 670-770 range. It didn’t give any estimation for my Analytical Writing section, of course, but I’m fairly confident that I did well in that section. Are those scores good, poor, or average? I haven’t been able to find a definite scoring chart. Thanks in advance! ![]()
8 years of tech experience, now want to complete bachelors.. need help?
I completed a 2 years bachelor program in business administration with the exception of 1 course (not completed due to lack of time and necessity to work full time). I have transcripts but no degree. This was back in 2001 and since then I have been working. 4 years in a reputable US organization and eventually in a successful startup to date.
I now want to consider taking up education again, complete my bachelors from a reputable US university and perhaps do a masters.
My issues are:
I can’t afford tution.
I gave toefel eon years ago with a good score but have never given gre or SAT.
I want to know if universities consider work experience of an applicant cos I have years of it.
Need a starting point, any guidance will help. Thanks

Graduate School/GRE Help?
I have two questions..One about the GRE, and specifically the Math Section.
And my second question being about Grad School and when to get letters of recommendation..
1. I’m planning on taking the revised GRE test in September or October of this year..However, I’m pretty awful at Math..yes, I did get my BA–but thankfully my major only required me to take one math class. I’m worried because I’m even worse at math tests. I plan on studying and practicing the guide given as best as I can..but if I do bomb the math portion (not concerned about the other two) but excel in the other sections…
do you think that will look bad and consider not admitting me? At the moment I’m looking at 2 schools..one the GRE is required, but no specific score is listed, the other a, ’580 should be obtained’ if I do not get a 580 (or however that works out in the revised test because the scores are different) will that automatically be a determining factor?
2. I plan on attending in Fall 2012, quite possibly Fall 2013..At this point I’ll have been an alumni for 2/3 years…what would be the best time to ask for the three recommendations needed? I know who I currently want them to be from (former boss, and two professors) but if 2/3 years have passed..does look bad not having as current recommendations? or good that after that time these people can speak highly of me? Seems like a double edged sword.. So should I just wait until I know for sure if I’m attending in ’12 or ’13?
Can you name a few good US universities that do not require a GRE score for an M.S. program?
I could not manage to get a passport despite applying several times last year, so I missed out on writing the GRE. Now I’m likely to get my passport soon and I’m interested in pursuing an M.S. course in any area of mechanical engineering. My English is quite good and I am confident that I can get a good score in IELTS/TOEFL. Any help/suggestions are highly appreciated.
Is 50 Days enough to prepare for GRE ?
I Have my GRE exam On "feb 15th 2007" and i am left with 50days. I am a Beginner. My Question ARE -
1) Is this time enough to get 1200+ score in GRE or should i shift my exam ?
2) How many hours should i prepare every day?

How important are GRE scores in regards to Graduate school acceptance?
Im taking the GRE in a few days and my score has been decent and suddenly I got nervous during two practice exams and did very poorly. I have studied for the past few months and feel like Im still not doing well. Im applying to school for Fall 2007 and am doing everything last minute.
I am applying for an MPH program and I am strong in aspects of really good letter of recs, a 3.8 GPA , and a lot of work and volunteer experience. What type of role does the GRE play in regards to acceptance , and If I don’t do well or If I dont do excellent am I doomed…..not in life , but for Grad school?
Any advise would be appreciated , I am very stressed and just need some pre-exam confidence I guess.
Does the GRE test prep course work?
I was looking into the Princeton Review course and it is so expensive! Was wondering if it actually improves your score. What is better a tutor or a course? Which is harder on the math GRE or GMAT?
Can someone help me with statistics homework?
Ok i Have a homework question for my statistics intro course. I cant really figure it out. Any help is much appreciated.
Heres the question:
"Mensa is an organization that allows people to join only if their IQ’s are in the top 2% of the population."
Question 1: What is the lowest IQ you could have and still be eligible to join Mensa? (remember that the mean is 100 and the standard deviation is 16)
Question 2: Mensa also allows members to qualify on the basis of certain standard tests. If you were to try to qualify on the basis of the GRE exam, what score would you need on the exam? (Remember that the mean is 497 and the standard deviation is 115)
Thanks again
Will the universities in US/UK accept GRE score of 740?
Hi everyone. I gave my gre exam today and got a score of 740. 460-quantitative and 280-verbal. Is it possible to pursue M.S in Computer science in US/UK. I’m very much depressed about the scores. Please help with proper answers.
i just took the GRE…not sure what to do now? suggestions please!!?
So, i just to the GRE and scored 450-Quant and 360-Verbal. So, a total of 810. I know that’s not the best, but I know my capabilities and even with all the studying i did and prep course i knew i wasnt gonna even get close to a 1,000. My question is that a good enough score to get into a grad program for public health…i’m not trying to go to any ivy league schools. so, regular universities. your input would be great. thanx a lot.
As there were no dates available in the current GRE format i registered for exam in August. Will it be late?
Considering that score will be available only in November for August Examinees. Also a few more doubts:
1. When does ‘fall 2012′ session start?
2. What is application deadline (approx) for universities in the US for fall 2012?
3. While registering for GRE i gave only the initial of my middle name ‘H’ only instead of full name as it is in the passport(full). I have given complete First and last name. Will i face problems later? What should be done now if its a big issue?
Major Score discrepancy between GRE and practice exams?
I took the GRE-General test recently and was shocked at my score. On my practice exams, I was consistently scoring between 620-650 on my Verbal and 630-660 for Quantitative. On the actual GRE, I scored 650 Quantitative but a 480 Verbal! Has anyone else had such a massive score discrepancy? Any thoughts?
As a side note, I studied with both the Princeton Review Book and the Kaplan Book. I also took a Kaplan course as well.
