PostHeaderIcon Is a GRE score of 950 (verbal/quant) to low to get into Physicians Assistance school?

Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I am applying to Physicians Assistance school and just took my GRE with a combined score of 950 on the verbal/quantitative section. I know I am not a good standardized test taker. My undergrad GPA was 3.7, and my references and position statement are strong. Is this test score competitve? Should I try to take the exam again?

PostHeaderIcon What college-level math class would be best to prepare for the GRE?

I plan to retake the GRE this summer/early fall since it’s been more than 5 years since the last time I did so. I would like to take a college-level course to prepare me for success. Which math class would be the most beneficial and provide me withe most pertinent informatio and skills?

If it helps you to answer the question, I have a Master’s in English and teach English at the community college, so I have the other portons of the test down. My concern is that math has always been a weak point for me and I’d really like to do better this time around than I did five years ago.
I meant to say the Quantitative section on the GRE, not the math subject test.

Also, I teach at the local community college, so price is not a concern. It would actually be significantly less expensive to take a class there than a Kaplan-style prep class.

PostHeaderIcon I took the practice GRE and completely BOMBED. I have a 3.8 gpa so I am not used to bombing anything. HELP!!?

I think I need the most help with the math or quantitative section. I plan on using Kaplan GRE in a Box (verbal) to improve my score and to sink in all that vocab. However, math is a different story. I learn math by doing tons of problems but most prep books only have a couple. I took algebra, geometry, and calculus awhile ago and did well but I don’t remember most of it anymore. What SPECIFICALLY is on the GRE quantitative section??? How can I practice several GRE-type problems??? Should I take a quick math course (like a 5 week one)???? HELP!!! I need a score of at LEAST 1100 and scored like 900 on my practice one. Also, would the MAT be better??

PostHeaderIcon Why is the paper based GRE test shorter?

I’m going to take the paper based GRE soon. On the official GRE document its says:

Typical Verbal section: 38 questions per section – 30 minutes per section
Quantitative section: 30 questions per section – 30 minutes

The time for the issue and argument questions are the same as the computer test – 45 and 30 minutes respectively.

Does anyone know why the paper based GRE test is shorter?

PostHeaderIcon What is the best tool in helping prepare for the GRE?

I’m taking the GRE in a month. I have looked at a few study guides from the library, and browsed through an online practice test. I haven’t been in school for almost 10 years now, and I can’t remember any of the math I once knew–I’ll be fine on the verbal portion of the test, but I really need help with the quantitative section. Anyone have any recommendations?

PostHeaderIcon Is there a site that suggests graduate schools according to GRE scores and field of study?

I want to apply to a Masters in Computer Science in the US. I got 780 in the quantitative section and 460 in the verbal section of GRE. A site that, according to my scores, suggests me universities would be great. Any school suggestion according to my scores will be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance

PostHeaderIcon Any hints on how to get a high score on the old GRE test?

I’m supposed to sit for the GRE test soon and I was wondering whether anyone out there who has already taken the exam might have some helpful hints on how to get a high score. I’m doing really well in the quantitative section, it’s the other part that gets me sometimes!! Besides, I’ve checked out some of the universities websites and none of them list what grade they consider for the cut off. Does anyone know what score they accept? Thanks in advance!

PostHeaderIcon Which GRE study materials are best for preparing students for the quantitative section of the exam?

I’m studying for the GRE and my biggest weakness is the quantitative section. Are there any good study guides that focus on preparing students for this section of the exam?

Thanks!
