I'm a college grad, worked 1 yr, looking to go back to college (undergrad) in top schools?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
I’m a college graduate with a 3.2 GPA, poli sci major. I started school with a very low GPA but by Junior and Senior year I did much better, but I regret a lot that I didn’t try harder. I wish to attend law school or grad school at Columbia/NYU. I think that my GPA is too low and I have very low SAT scores. I’m thinking to retake my SAT’s and re-attend college (hopefully at a top school) as an undergrad and start all over. Is this completely ridiculous? Or, just re-take my SAT’s? Of course, my LSAT/GRE exam would be a major factor as well. I really want a 2nd chance in my studies and I feel that my undergrad grades/scores will effect negatively in my future goals.
Do I have to take the GRE and the LSAT?
I am ending out my junior year in college right now and am on track to graduate next spring. I’m a Comm Major, poli sci minor, and I’ve been thinking I’d really like to go to law school.
I’ve already signed up at LSAC, and am thinking about taking a LSAT prep course. But first, I’d like to just do a dry run of the test, see what score I get, then go from there…
My question is: If I want to go to a law school, do I need to take both the GRE and the LSAT? Is it a good idea to take the GRE anyway even if I don’t have to?
When do I need to take the GRE?
I am an International Affairs/Poli Sci double major (Hist minor, because why the hell not?) and I’ll actually be finished with all my courses and credits a semester early (Spring 2011 as opposed to Fall 2012).
My question is what timeline should I follow to take the GRE? I plan on going off to grad school to continue studying International Affairs.
Thanks! If I left out important details, let me know.
