PostHeaderIcon Can you help me decide what I should do with my life?

Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I graduated from college, but I didn’t get to make the GPA high enough to go to graduate school. I’m mentally disabled & my disability affects my functioning in school. It seems like I’ll never pass. I feel like a failure. I’m back in college taking undergraduate classes, & it’s not working out for me. & I was told that by being in the grad prep program for this school & making straight A’s with a perfect GRE score still won’t guarantee me to get into grad school. I suck at writing papers, & the professor always says that I don’t follow directions, which is part of my disability. I have comprehension problems. & I want to work. Also for student loans, I was told I can get them discharged, since I’m disabled. Should I continue with school, wasting the government’s money, KNOWING I’m not gonna pass these courses or should I quit & give up? It’s so stressful that it’s driving me to a panic attack. & I can’t work because they’ll cut off my SSI & Social Security benefits.
I feel like I’m just wasting my time & energy.

PostHeaderIcon If you get horrible scores on the practice GRE's after studying for months and months, should you just give up?

I have a little bit of a dilemma and would appreciate your honest feedback.

I’m currently in the process of taking practice tests and have realized that my avg score for Q is in the 200′s, and for the V in the 300′s. I’m not an idiot. The test is making me believe that I am though! You will probably suggest I take a test-prep course, but please note that I have already taken 2. The methods they teach do not make complete sense to me, and the methods I’ve taught myself also apparently don’t work. I’m just not good at these kinds of tests! I did fairly well during my undergrad education — my UG GPA is 3.6 (my gpa in my major is 3.9), so I was encouraged by faculty members to apply to grad school, which is what I really want to do (program in the arts/humanities/social sciences). However — these scores are horrendous. So should I just not apply to grad school and start filling out app’s at McDonald’s? HONEST serious answers ONLY please & thanks.

PostHeaderIcon What is the realistic chance of doing well on the GRE Physics subject exam with Liberal Arts as my undergrad.?

I majored in Soc & Econ under the social scinces in my school’s liberal arts department. I know calculus fairly well and have taken Astronomy so I touch on classical physcis somewhat (I took AP Physics in HS). Discussion wise I am familiar with what is happening in the quantum world and cosmology, but the finer details-the math and formulas need work. I have a book and have began studying rigorously. My only concern is the "laboratory" section and the math on the GRE subject exam. Realistically, will my lack of the first three years of undergrad in physcis truly inhibit me from learning those sections and topics on my own? Is it naive of me to think I can do it? I would like to go into grad school for this seeing that i find it fascinating. Someone who knows would be of great advice! Thanks in advance!

PostHeaderIcon how do i get an internship at an insurance(General) company in India?

I’m currently doing a course in banking & insurance(F.Y) and very much interested in actuarial science.
I have subjects such as quantitative methods 1&2(topics like regression analysis, stat applications in finance and investment,probability,calculus1,2 &3 and its applications in finance),economics(macro & micro),cost a/c in banking and insurance, auditing, financial reporting & analysis..etc..
I would like to know….
*What do employers look out for?
*How do i get SAS or related computer soft skill exp. in India?
*What are the chances of employment for those who have’nt taken 10+2 math but passed 2-4 SOA/ASI exams?
*How do i prove that i’m excellent at math (GRE subject specific {math}….or the exams are tough enough?)
*Would passing an SOA exam help before i graduate?…employmentwise

would really be gratefull to the person anwsering these questions.
Thanks….would like some more answers from more people :)

PostHeaderIcon What should I do that there's no guarantee that I can get accepted in Graduate School?

I have to take certain extra undergrad courses to raise my GPA & take the GRE with no minimum score. Even if I make straight A’s & have a high GRE score, there’s still not a guarantee that I can be accepted. This makes me feel like I’m wasting my time. Should I still try to pursue this goal or just simply work & try to get off of SSI & Social Security? What’s there in life if I can’t get accepted into grad school? No jobs want to hire me, so that’s why I’m trying to get back into school.

PostHeaderIcon Should I retake my GRE test?

I know it is a little long but PLEASE help me out here – I am a student majoring in animal sciences in Philadelphia for my undergraduate bachelors whom is planning on applying to veterinary school for my doctorate. My cumulative GPA is a 3.35 (technically a 3.4 but I had to average out a course I retook for some of the schools I am applying to), my last 45 hour GPA is a 3.63, I have a ton of relevant work experience in the animal sciences including work as a paid animal laboratory technician, a volunteer at the Philadelphia zoo, and as a volunteer at the University of Pennsylvania’s veterinary hospital. I have solid recommendations coming from a veterinarian, a veterinary nurse, and from a doctor at my college. I am planning on applying to the Universities of Missouri, Colorado, Pennsylvania, & Iowa. I am concerned becuase my GRE scores aren’t all that spectacular – verbal: 460 quant: 610 and AW: 4.0
I have checked the schools I am applying to and while I am not very far off from their average GRE scores I am still below for them. My question is whether or not you think I should retake the test. I really wouldn’t want to retake the test becuase I would have to miss work, pay 150 bucks for the test, go through the stress of studying again, and of course go through the grueling four hours of testing again. Also Missouri only counts the GRE as 4% of their evaluation on whether or not you are admitted and I am very close to the averages for Iowa. I mean all of the school averages that I am off by (except UPenn) I am off by about 20-30 points and the test is in 10 point increments so I mean were really only talking about 3-4 questions right/wrong. And if I retake them I am not guaranteed a better score and I really did try very hard to do well the first time. So what do you think? Thanks for any help you can offer.

PostHeaderIcon How Long to Study for GRE

How Long to Study for GRE

The GRE (The Graduate Record Examinations) test is a based computer test that consists of different question types, verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing, and different degree of difficulty. In the math section, for instance, many problems are designed to see if you can apply some little short cut to get to the answer.

Today more and more students want to attend graduate schools not in their native country but all over the globe. In order to get accepted taking the GRE test is mandatory. Obviously the higher your score is the better chances you have to get accepted to the institution you want. It is important to know that there are many MBA programs now that accept GRE scores instead of GMAT.

It is hard to determine how long to study for GRE since it is of course very individual. Some take the course and for a short period of time focus only on the test while others don’t have  a lot of hours a day to devote for studying so they have to learn for a longer period and of course some may find this test easy some may find it hard. However, I would say that roughly two month are enough to go thoroughly over the different subjects. If you have less time than that then focus on the essentials, buy cards that consist of the relevant vocabulary, solve the most difficult logic problems and see if you can handle that. (You can buy books that will have representative problem,e.g. the monthly logic puzzle books in order to figure out th logic problems which some find hard to grasp and so on.) But ideally it would be around to or three month to get ready for the GRE.

PostHeaderIcon I want to know what USA university have Educational technology course؟?

I finish educational technology & I want to continue it (Graduate).
How can i admission without Tofel & GRE.

PostHeaderIcon What is the best book to get when studying for the GRE?

So the 3 books that I can’t decided between are of course PR, Kaplan & Barrons and I’ve heard a lot of good and bad things about all of them. I’m not that bad at math already so a book that isn’t too amazing in the math section wouldn’t be too bad. I do need a REALLY high score in the writing and verbal sections for the graduate program that I am going to be applying for. Which book would you recommend for a high writing and verbal score? Also, should I bother buying the CD with the book?

PostHeaderIcon GRE test…?

I’m taking the GRE in October & every student I have talked to has told me that it made them want to die and/or consume mass quantities of alcohol. However, every professor I’ve talked to has said that it’s not that bad. So which is it? And what’s a good score?

PostHeaderIcon What are the test dates & deadlines to pay & register for future GRE tests?

I’ve looked online & found NOTHING! & How much does it cost to take the GRE?

& what’s your experience with taking the GRE? I know it’s not that easy, but is it overwhelmingly hard? Did you pass off 1st try or had to repeat? Did you study or prep for it? Did you have a tutor or not? Did you study on your own or go to a class?

What should I do? I can’t afford to pay for a class or tutoring. I’m poor. But I heard that the 1st time you take the GRE, you can get a waiver or a voucher. If I’m disabled with limited income, can I get a voucher?

**Sorry for so many questions, but I’m trying to get a general idea of people’s experiences so I can know what to expect.
