Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

Applying to graduate school in a social sciences-related degree and one of the components of the application are GRE scores.

I am an international student so I did not need to take the SAT’s when I went to college and so the whole idea of "standarized testing" is brand new to me. This GRE is killing me. I spent over a thousand dollars on a prep course and I still have a low score on the practice tests.
My overall GPA is 3.6 and I have strong letters of recommendation and a personal statement that both facutly members called "outstanding". I also at the undergraduate level presented at a national conference. Do you think a GRE score that is low will hurt?
My average scores on practice tests are:
AW: no idea
V: 350
Q: 250

I’m surprised that you have scores this low after a prep course. Whoever ran that prep course should give you your money back. These scores are very low and will keep you out of any decent school. If I were you, I would absolutely focus on raising these scores. Like another poster said, get a tutor. You may be able to get free tutoring at your university.

You need to raise the quantitative score up to at least in the 500s. For the verbal score, you will probably be given more leeway since you’re an international student, but it should be in at least the mid-400s.

Try to aim for a 1000 total, preferably a 1200.

Why even bother with those scores? I’d concentrate on applying to fastfood chains instead of grad school.

That test is a bitch even for people who took the SAT’s. Friggen annoying if you ask me. Oh and I wish I had thumbs down power to thumbs down certain people…….

You must get a private tutor. You need personal instruction as you have no experience in this area and it shows on the practice tests.
Scores this low will ruin your chances for grad school.

Another possibility would be to go to grad school outside the US.

    Good luck.
