Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
I bought a Kaplan study guide used from a book store. It had some good tips in it but I was a bit disappointed that there was only one full-length practice test (there were several mini-tests though).
I went online and made free flashcards for the top 200 "GRE Words" with flashcardmachine.com and studied them while I was at work and before bed, etc. (A list of these words can be found in the backs of the study guides).
I highly recommend practicing for the writing section, even though it seems easy and the practice topics are kind of annoying. Don’t worry about having a friend read it and grade it, just worry about organizing your thoughts within the time limit.
I took my first practice test and got 300V/500Q, and after a month of studying I got 500V/700Q/3.5W
I took the Powerscore GRE class in NYC last fall and liked it a lot. Much more thorough than I expected and the book was a real help after the class. It was a good experience and it helped me feel a lot better about the test. FWIW, I’ve been recommending it to friends of mine taking the GRE.
Besides that, I spent a lot of time studying the Practicing to Take the GRE Book. Whatever you do, its a lot of work, but if you spend time studying that will relieve any anxiety you have (it helped calm my nerves, at least).
The three most popular flashcard type sites are:
http://www.studystack.com/GRE
http://www.quizlet.com
http://www.flashcardexchange.com
I created studystack.com. There are millions of flashcards that users have entered. When you enter flashcards online, the studystack site also creates nine other activities using that data to help you study.
