I am trying to get into a PhD program for sociology and need to know what sort of studying will benefit me the most for the GRE.

Brush up on your high school level math – though, it being a sociology program, math isn’t going to make it or break it for you.
You really need stellar verbal scores, so be sure to practice close reading.
