Help with percentages on GRE questions?

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot

I’m pretty handy with my shortcuts in math but is there something I’m missing here?
Mary received a net of 5 that was 65% of her gross paycheck.
A- Mary’s gross paycheck
B- 0
The answer is they’re the same, but how are you supposed to figure that out without a calculator?

Ah, the GRE. This one’s an easy/quick one though:
585/x = 65/100
x = 585 x 100 / 65
as mean as the GRE seems at times, they’ll never give you something too messy. Just start dividing 58500 by 65. If along the way you hit a digit that doesn’t match up, choose your answer. Don’t waste time calculating the whole thing.
