So study hard and good luck!
I am planning to go to grad sch in psy field…I will be a junior next yr…should I take the GRE this summer or later..? I also wanna know the average admission requirement of GRE…I am aiming at public schools..anyone with experience share please^^
I guess that depends on when you’re going to graduate school. Are you wanting to go the fall after you graduate (assuming you graduate in the Spring or summmer)? If you are, then I say take the GRE near when you’re sending in applications to schools. you get your scores instantly (the GRE nowadays are taken on the computer) and they can send them to the schools of your choice.
I was told by my career counselor that you shouldn’t take the GRE more than twice. Its not like the SAT where schools will take your best score without question. I was warned that some grad programs would look at your numerous GRE scores and ask "why does this person need to take it over and over again? didn’t they prepare enough the first/second time?" It may work against you.
Its also expensive to take the GRE, about $115. Its also 3.5 hours long. I suggest buying a prep book to know what to expect from the test. It helps alot.
Go ahead and take the GRE. This will give you a way of seeing what the test is all about before you are pressured to make a great score. You will have time to take it again to acheive the score that you truly want. The first time you can just get a "feel" of the test. Most graduate schools recommend a 1000 (verbal and math combined) or more. The GRE is not easy. I recommend getting a practice book that is recommended by The Princeton Review or ETS. Don’t focus too much on just the GRE though. Graduate schools look at GPA, extracurricular activities, honors, letters of recommendation, and your letter of intent too. Hope I helped
