Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I have to take the GRE examination in a few weeks in preparation for Graduate School. Are there any tips or strategies on taking the exam or preparation for study?

Few weeks of preparation may not be sufficient for GRE. For verbal you should check out http://dictionary.vocabbuilder.net/ and for analytics any 10th standard maths book should suffice. Best of Luck!

If you haven’t already done so, get thee to the bookstore and plunk down the few bucks for one or two of the GRE preparation books. The value of doing this is not to suddenly learn the arcane verbal, math, and analytical knowledge that you’ve never seen before but to remind you of what you’ve already learned and how the test of this information is presented in the GRE. The more familiar you are of the format and general appearance of the test the less anxious you will be and the less distracted you will be by the unfamiliar.

Each section is timed separately so be aware of the time remaining. If you have a wristwatch with a stopwatch function, so much the better. The items generally progress from easier to more difficult; therefore, blast through all the items you can answer right off the bat without sitting and spinning your wheels. On the second pass, take on the ones that you think you can figure out within a minute or so, etc.

There is no penalty for guessing so if you’ve run out of clues for the last however many items there are left in the remaining minute/seconds, just mark at random. Whatever you do, avoid leaving any items unanswered.

Oh, by the way; on the analogies section, don’t get stuck on the literal meanings of the words when they get more challenging. The sneaky little gnomes who write these things get pretty deep into the second and third order levels of relationships toward the end. The prep guides will have examples ot this so don’t gloss over them.

Finally, on the afternoon and evening before the test, ditch the books and do something fun and or relaxing. Get plenty of sleep and stay off the sauce for a change. :o )

    Stay loose and good luck!
