first 10 questions of the gre?
Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses,gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
Is it true that doing well on the first 10 questions on a gre section will drastically improve your grade?
GRE= graduate record exam.
Sort of. Doing well early helps because each time you get a question right, it goes up a level in difficulty, and when you get one wrong it goes down (for the computerized version). The harder the question, the more points you get for answering it right (without greater penalty for getting it wrong). So if you get a lot wrong early in the exam, you may never get to the harder questions that are worth more.
Say there are 10 questions in a subsection with 5 difficulty levels, and say two people both answer 8/10 correctly. Your score will be better if it’s the last two you miss than the first two. The number represents difficulty level of the questions:
last two missed: 3455555554
first two missed: 3212345555
In the first case, the average difficulty of questions answered correctly is 4.6. In the second, only 3.7. The first person gets a significantly better score.
This is just an illustration of the basic principle, which ironically looks kind of like a GRE kind of question… I’m not entirely sure what their scale is for calculating points or the number of difficulty levels. Also, they start over with each subsection (e.g. between geometry and stats, or between analogies and word problems in the same math/verbal section).
