Computer-based Test:
Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning scores depend on the test-taker's performance on the questions given and on the number of questions answered in the time allotted.
Both sections are section-level adaptive, meaning that the first section of the Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning measures span a range of difficulty levels, from easy to difficult. The first section is assembled such that, overall, the first section is of average difficulty. The second section of each of the measures is administered based on a test-taker's overall performance on the first section.
Paper-based Test:
Scoring of the Verbal and Quantitative sections of the paper-based General Test is a two-step process:
First, a raw score is computed. The raw score is the number of questions the test taker answered correctly.
The raw score is then converted to a scaled score through a process known as equating. Equating accounts for differences in difficulty among the different test editions. Thus, a given scaled score reflects approximately the same level of ability regardless of the edition of the test that was taken.
For any further questions and the same answer I have given you today, please visit http://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/faq
I hope that I have answered your question thoroughly and explanitorily.

Hey R A,
The questions on the revised GRE with multiple answers do not give partial credit. Either you answer the problem perfectly, or you get no credit at all. For example, let's say you do a Sentence Equivalence question that has a correct answer of A and C. If you answer A and D, you get no credit at all for the problem. So, it is an all-or-nothing format, and if you miss any part of a multiple answer question, the whole thing is wrong.
I hope that helps. Thanks!

1. Prepare for six months to one year to take the GRE. There are many people who have got top scores preparing for less than three months. It's your qualitative effort that matters most in preparing for the GMAT.
2. Get official and up-to-date info on GRE from:
www.ets.org
At the above site you'll also find info on strategies to prepare for the GRE.
3. You can download free sample tests of GRE one each for the paper-based and computer-based test in the above site at:
tinyurl.com/free-gre-test
4. A book that would be of most value in preparing for the GRE is "Practicing to take the GRE General Test, 10th Edition" published by the ETS, which conducts the GRE tests.
It contains questions from seven actual GRE tests.
For more info and FAQ on how to apply for M.S. / MBA in U.S. universities, you may read: http://tinyurl.com/study-in-America
For scholarship / financial aid / jobs info in American universities, you may read: http://tinyurl.com/money-for-studies
Good wishes to you!
P.S. Don't forget to read the FAQ in http://tinyurl.com/study-in-America
