Can I use an older study guide to prepare for the GRE?
Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
I’m thinking of purchasing a few study guides online to study for the GRE. I’m wondering if it would be alright to purchase older editions of study guides from a few years ago. Were there any changes to the test that would deter me from buying an older edition? How far back can I go?
Thanks for your help.
In 2011 the test will undergo the most extreme revision since the test was created, so if you plan to take the test in 2011, you would not be well served by older study guides, especially for the verbal section, which is undergoing the most changes. If you are taking the test in 2010, any guide published since 2007 should be fine. I recommend ETS, Barron’s, Kaplan, or Princeton Review guides. These books are make by test prep companies who spend a lot of money and time on research and development. (And actually, ETS is the maker of the GRE.)
Get a study guide that comes with practice tests on CD, and also download the two free practice tests from the ets website.
