Any hints on how to get a high score on the old GRE test?
Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,
I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!
I’m supposed to sit for the GRE test soon and I was wondering whether anyone out there who has already taken the exam might have some helpful hints on how to get a high score. I’m doing really well in the quantitative section, it’s the other part that gets me sometimes!! Besides, I’ve checked out some of the universities websites and none of them list what grade they consider for the cut off. Does anyone know what score they accept? Thanks in advance!
you have to score over a 1200 to have a shot anywhere half decent, and the best BEST way to prep is to take 50 practice exams — start 3 months or more before exams and take one or two every week, in full — sit through the whole thing, half of doing well is being totally comfortable just sitting there forever and doing the whole thing at once.
their "cutoff" is determined the weekend they go through their applications and need to cut 70% of applicants in one evening. they look at the number of apps they have and decide where the cutoff is for that night’s process…
just think of it this way — you’re on a committee of 6-8 and you have 450 applications to go over in one weekend (a long weekend, granted)… so the first thing you do is cut the number to about 100. you find as many apps as you can to just toss out, for any reason… gpa, gre are the first things that flag an elimination.
but it’s not a standard thing — it always depends on the quality of students who apply…
but you can guess pretty well and they could give you approximations on what they consider to be requisite. some department sites will even post this approximation.
hope this helps.
Research says that taking a prep course can help increase your test score by a little bit.
You can try doing that.
I think a 650 and above are good scores…
Scores range from 200-800, and the mean is 500.
