Are courses like Kaplan and Princeton review worth the cost or will the published books with sample questions adequate?

Is there a good test prep course (ie: Kaplan or Test Masters) and do you think it matter whether I take an online vs. an on-site course?

Hi all, what’s the best GRE review book out there ? planning on taking the GRE this march. Plus, has anyone here ever attended the Powerscore GRE review course and if so, how was it ? Thanks..

I am an International Affairs/Poli Sci double major (Hist minor, because why the hell not?) and I’ll actually be finished with all my courses and credits a semester early (Spring 2011 as opposed to Fall 2012).

My question is what timeline should I follow to take the GRE? I plan on going off to grad school to continue studying International Affairs.

Thanks! If I left out important details, let me know.

I’m a junior majoring in Speech Pathology and Audiology. I want to take the GRE this year, but I don’t know when i’ll have time to study hard for it. I’m taking 18 hrs this semester and I plan on taking 6 hrs in the summer, 18 hrs in the fall. For those of you that have taken the GRE while you were completing your undergrad, how did you study for the exam while studying for your undergrad courses?

I’m going to apply to a biology graduate program, but I don’t have an awesome undergraduate GPA, so I need to do exceptionally well on the biology subject test. I’m not about to part with 00+ for a course, so a book will have to do. Which are the top three biology specific prep books? I’ve been getting a lot of mixed reviews and would appreciate personal advice. Thanks!

On the physics gre ets guide, they list a series of mathematics areas i have to be very familiar with:

boundary value problems
differential equations
vector algebra
complex analysis

i really don’t want to spend my time re-reading entire math text books when i’m studying for the physics gre. So can someone tell me what aspects of these subjects i need to know?

if you have any other advice, feel free to relay it as well..i could use all the help i can get!

thanks

I want to have my practice GRE essays marked. But I don’t want to enroll in an expensive programme just for essay marking which takes only 3-4mins. Do you know anywhere online I could submit essays for marking and feedback of just essays without registering for the entire GRE preparation course?

Can anyone give me advice on the math section of the GRE? I am horrid at math, and the best score I’ve gotten out of the three times I’ve taken the GRE is a 370. I’ve tried Princeton Review (online course and book), Kaplan’s review, and many other GRE books. I don’t know what to do but I retake the exam on the 29th of Jan. Any quick tips or helpful ideas are welcome :) Thanks!

an indian friend of mine is an extremely good test taker. She scored 2220/2400 in GRE. She has lived in the US for like 8 yrs but still has a slight accent. She would like to tutor (private as well as classroom sessions) for GRE prep courses but is a little apprehensive about her accent. I say she should give it a shot see how it turns out. What do y’all think?

I’m a real estate appraiser (considered self-employed) and I’m taking the GRE in February to try to get into a Master’s program so I can get a better job. When I file my quarterly estimated taxes for April, can I write off a GRE study guide book? Can I write off the 0 fee to take the GRE test, too?

I need as many write-offs as I can get since I’m shelling out most of the money I’ve made so far for LASIK surgery in March. I know I can write off 7.5% of the surgery, but the surgery is going to cost me just about everything I’ve made for the last three months, minus my regular expenses (gas, food, health insurance, car repairs, etc). Plus I have to take a few days off of work to heal before I can go out driving around again.
Well that’s great then! I thought I was going to have to eat most of the LASIK cost and still get taxed on the remainder. Didn’t seem fair to me, but neither do any taxes for that matter.
So I can write off all 00 for the entire surgery since it’s more than 7.5% of my gross pay? Gosh, then there won’t be anything left to tax me on :) Oh, if only I could do that every quarter…

can i get admission into the eecs department of MIT after My bsc .And if then which program will i get. can i get the engineering program and how ?

I have just a month to prepare, I need to get admitted to a particular course by fall and so have just a month to take the GRE. So i am looking for a site/book which has a list of words that I can learn in this limited time

I will be taking the LSAT and maybe the GRE at the end of the year. The prep courses have very high prices. I know this is important, but price tags up to 00 seem ridiculous to me. If you took a course, did it help you? Was it worth the cost? Share your experience, please.

Do I need to take this or do i just need the GRE test?

Hello,
I want to apply for gre exam what is the good time to give this exam if I want to enroll in May 2010.
Can we complete 2 year course in one year.
Waiting reply.

Don’t tell me princeton review, as I discovered the hard way that its only a scam as well as the other study guides. So how can I learn all that potential vocab and learn how to master those word problems in a practical, my last scores were embarrasingly low, all that studying I did was for nothing, please help!

I wish to do some course in the US where I will be for 2 years on a dependent visa. I have to leave in a short span that i dont hav time to prepare and appear for GRE. So what are the universities in Indiana which admit students for Post Graduation without GRE Scores

prepping for the GRE subject test: Biology. What is an effective way to prepare for the exam? Which programs of books to use?
