how to score more marks in GRE

Hi, I took the Kaplan GRE prep course and am really happy with it. I was wondering though if anyone took the course recently (including the CAT exams they offer on-line) and the actual GRE. Did these CAT exams really reflect the GRE? did you score similarly? Were the antonyms more difficult than expected or less (I’m working on studying all the Kaplan vocab- around 500 words. is that enough??)
I appreciate any feedback- as you can see I’m freaking out b/c of this exam!!!!
Thanks!

I can’t afford a Kaplan course, what are some cheap/free things that I can do to help boost my score?

From anyone who has taken it this year or at the most a year ago…What were the best study guide books for them (e.g. Princeton, Barron’s, ETS…etc.) Same for the Psy. subject test. Thanks!

thanks.

I am going to finish my BE (Bachelor of engineering) in June-July. When do u suggest me to write both GRE and TOEFL?
When should i apply for writing them? I can immediately join in
a good institute for coaching to get a good score. Please suggest a good institute in BANGALORE which offers both courses(GRE,TOEFL) daily .Tell me their website for details if any. What r the good universities in US? I dont prefer CANADA. Also give me all the information u know regarding this whole process right from writing the exams till getting a seat in a good university and life thereafter.

I am an electronics and communications engineer i would like to know some of the courses and related universities in us for my ms program which are in demand and the required gre score for the above universities.

Please do help me.

I have just a month to prepare, I need to get admitted to a particular course by fall and so have just a month to take the GRE. So i am looking for a site/book which has a list of words that I can learn in this limited time

Guide me on how to prepare for GRE and TOFEL exams so that i can get a very high score enough to join top USA univ.
any references (books), syllubus, and info on how to prepare for it will be very welcome.

Is that possible at all, any financial help? I have no real income, and my EFC is zero..so a thousand dollars isnt really available

Hey guys, Im currently doing my undergraduate course from The Indian Institute of Technology. Id like some help regarding when i should start preparations for say, GRE, GMAT, CAT etc. People say i should start preparing well in advance. And moreover, what other prerequisites would i need, that i will have to obtain in the upcoming years at IIT, to gain admission into a reputed university abroad. Or are the test scores sufficient for entrance? Pl guys, these questions have been bugging me for some time now and id love your help.

So the 3 books that I can’t decided between are of course PR, Kaplan & Barrons and I’ve heard a lot of good and bad things about all of them. I’m not that bad at math already so a book that isn’t too amazing in the math section wouldn’t be too bad. I do need a REALLY high score in the writing and verbal sections for the graduate program that I am going to be applying for. Which book would you recommend for a high writing and verbal score? Also, should I bother buying the CD with the book?

I’m thinking of purchasing a few study guides online to study for the GRE. I’m wondering if it would be alright to purchase older editions of study guides from a few years ago. Were there any changes to the test that would deter me from buying an older edition? How far back can I go?

Thanks for your help.

I am Bcom graduate, I have completed a course In GNIIT , I have 6years exprience in the software . I even completed a Msc in information technology . I just wanted to know whether I am qualified to write the G R E ?

Has anyone taken or knows someone who has taken a Kaplan program or used an equivalent program to prepare for the GRE? Which course did you take: Instructor-led or online self-study? Did you feel it prepared you better than studying on your own would have? Do you feel its benefits were worth the cost to enroll? Thanks so much!

I am only a sophomore in college, but I already know that I want to get my doctorate in psychology. I want to know what sort of information the GRE covers so that I can take the right courses to prepare myself.

i need to take up my GRE exams.. i wud like to know when the universities start takin in applications for the course starting from 2008.. (i wil be finishin my undergrad by june 2008).. also what are the other requirements??

I am an International student doing my bachelors in india

Hi everyone out there in cyber world,

I live in the UK and am at a UK university for my undergrad degree. Next year I’d like to go to grad school in the US so I gather I need to sit some extra tests to apply for that- the GRE general and the GRE physics tests. Since this concept of extra tests for postgrad study is completely alien to me over here I think I will need to get a couple of study guides for these two tests. I was hoping to sit the tests in mid November since then that should give me a month to get results back and complete applications for the earliest deadlines.

Could anyone advise me on the best study guides to get? There seem to be a few on the internet available. I need something that explains the whole sort of principles of these tests as well as tells me everything I need to know (or at least outlines it in enough detail so that I could then use other books). There isn’t anyone over here who knows anything about these so I can’t just pop along to ask what I need to learn next. If these requirements aren’t all met by one individual book then are the perhaps pairs you’d recommend?

Also, any study/exam tips? How much onus do the universities place on these tests? It would seem strange to me that they would consider them more important than the grades you have been getting during your courses for the last 3/4 years?!

Thanks for your help

This is for anyone who has taken the general GRE test recently: how many GRE Reading Comprehension Passages did you get? Was there just on reading passage with corresponding answers or two or three?

I’ve taken several GRE tests online (I am taking a GRE Course) and do fine until a third reading passage pops up in the last 5 minutes of the test. I am wondering if this third passage happened to anyone during the actual test??

I am planning on going to graduate school in the fall of 2008 and need to take my GRE sometime between now and October. However, the test is being completely revamped in August and it will no longer test the old material. I had originally planned on studying this summer and taking the test in August, but it is no longer offered then and the new study guides won’t come out until mid-July. Should I take the old, time-tested version, even though I won’t have as much time to prepare for it as I feel I need, or should I take the new version this September?

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am contemplating signing up for a GRE prep class, but they are so expensive. I am kind of worried about my scores, so I’m just not sure. Does anyone have any experience with the courses? What do you think? Thanks.
