PostHeaderIcon College Laptops: Dell vs. Toshiba?

Looking for info on gre preparation classes, gre preparation courses, gre test course and more?

Hi and welcome to my blog,

I opened this blog to help anyone who is preparing for his GRE exam.
I remember myself when I started - I was so lost and in such a panic.
Luckily I got this great Gre guide that helped me a lot
So study hard and good luck!

I’m looking into buying a laptop for college use. I’m wondering which brand to buy, and it seems that it is down to Dell vs. Toshiba. I’ll be using it for college school work, music, and some photo editing. Which would you recommend?

PostHeaderIcon If you’ve taken the GRE lately, the vocabulary questions were much harder than this, right?

I came across this site with GRE practice questions, and these questions seem extremely easy. The GRE is much more difficult, right?

PostHeaderIcon Do you have to take the GRE test if you are going into OPTOMETRY?

I know that the OAT is specifically for optometry schools, but do I need to take the GRE as a requirement for the university which I a graduating from? (DePaul University, Chicago IL)

Thank you

PostHeaderIcon I wanted to know what are the minimum requirements to appear for gre exam?

what is the maximum fees structure for MS from usa..and is there any option to take education loan to study abroad?

PostHeaderIcon Does my belief of “get more for your buck” by buying a used car instead of a new car apply to laptops as well?

Right out of college I bought a brand new car. I had my thrill but I’ll never do it again because cars depreciate so much in the first few years. Last year I bought a 3-year old Land Cruiser for about K (which sold for K new). I love it. Anyway, is it a smart idea to buy a used laptop? I have a desktop computer (HP Pentium 4, 2.53 GHz, 512 RAM) that works fine and I actually like the speed better than an HP Compaq NC6000 laptop which I sometimes use (and all I know about that baby is it has an M processor). Anyway, I want to add a used laptop to help me do business when I travel and mostly for surfing. I’ve got a budget of about 0 but I figure I’ll probably have to bump that up to 0 or 0 to get something that’s okay. Don’t need a whole lot of storage for files. Do want built-in wifi capability. I’m a big ebay shopper too. What can I buy? Is my budget too low? What minimum specs should I look for considering my needs? What’s your favorite beer?

PostHeaderIcon What is the minimum score one should get in GRE for an admission in a post graduate course in US university ?

I am an Indian. My brother has written his GRE and scored 1060. Will it be difficult for him to get an admission in a good university with this score? Will his score affect his US visa processing in any way because i have been hearing stories off-late that a lot of the students visa is being rejected?

PostHeaderIcon What do you do when you take the GRE( Graduate Requirements Exam) and you do horrible on it?

I took the GRE recently and it is the only opportunity I had to submit scores to prospective programs. Bottomline is I did horrible on it. I have an above average GPA and I have outstanding recommendations and job experience.

How should I market myself to deflect attention, or explain my poor performance on my exam?

PostHeaderIcon How do I score my practice GRE test?

I took a practice GRE today and am trying to figure out how to determine my scores ((200 to 800)) based on the percent I got. I know that there is a complex way of scoring the real GRE that involves taking into account the difficulty level of each question, but is there an easy way to get a ballpark idea of how well I did so that I know how much I need to improve before taking the actual GRE?
There does not seem to be scoring instructions in the book that contains the test.

PostHeaderIcon AttN: GRE veterans: GRE Questions–help please!?

I am a junior right now and I plan on taking GRE next year (I hope I am not too late). People recommend to take it before it changes in september. And I also heard that we should register early because there will be many people trying to take it before it changes.

So my questions are:

1. How long does it take to prepare for it?

2. Can I register early (like now) for a test half a year in advance?

3. Do you recommend taking GRE before it changes also?

4. My weakest portion is the verbal. I heard that it’s helpful to read newspapers/megazines to learn more new words. Which one do you recommend?

5. If I want to leave enough time to retake the GRE (only if I need to), how much time should I put off before September (including receiving the score from the first test and then register and take the second one befoer September)?

Thanks a lot!

PostHeaderIcon Is there a site that suggests graduate schools according to GRE scores and field of study?

I want to apply to a Masters in Computer Science in the US. I got 780 in the quantitative section and 460 in the verbal section of GRE. A site that, according to my scores, suggests me universities would be great. Any school suggestion according to my scores will be appreciated too.

Thanks in advance
